About

My name is Margaret Griffin. I live in rural south county Wexford now after a move from the Meath/Cavan border where I had lived for 24 years. Before this I lived in the UK for 6 years and before this, Dublin. I studied Ag. Science in UCD specialising in landscape design. I then went on to study Food Science as a mature student in DIT, Kevin St. I worked in the food industry in food safety before being made redundant in 2009. From then I have done various other jobs including teaching in Cavan/Monaghan ETB.

I am a complete food fanatic. I think about food, talk about it, read about it incessantly. I am a smallholder growing, rearing, baking, preserving, curing and fermenting my own food. I organise the Smallholder Ireland Twitter account which is a curated account.

I keep pigs and poultry and have a menagerie of cats and dogs. I am currently restoring an old property and hoping to get some sheep, small rare breed cattle and sure you’d never know – a goat?
